A Short History of Camp Nou

Spotify Camp Nou Stadium

Camp Nou opened in 1957, replacing the old Les Corts stadium to accommodate a growing fan base. With a capacity of nearly 100,000, it quickly became the largest stadium in Europe, and one of the most iconic arenas in world football.

Over the decades, Camp Nou witnessed historic El Clásicos, Champions League triumphs, World Cup matches, and countless unforgettable moments.

In 2022, FC Barcelona announced the Espai Barça project — a full renovation to modernize Camp Nou into a cutting-edge smart stadium with improved seating, a retractable roof, sustainable design, and tech-driven fan experiences.

Full reopening is scheduled for late 2025 to 2026, with partial events returning before then.
